November 2012: Undergraduate student Mary Waddington joins the group. Welcome Mary!

October 2012: Harishchandra, Rohan, Joe, Anthony, Andrew, and Dr. Brasch attend an Ohio Inorganic Weekend Conference at Wayne State University, Detroit. Rohan presents a talk, others present posters, and Andrew wins a Merck Index Handbook award for an outstanding poster!

Alex talking at the University of AkronAugust 2012: Alex is one of only two students selected from the KSU NSF-REU summer research program to give an oral presentation at The 9th Annual Northeast Ohio Undergraduate Research Symposium, University of Akron. June 2012: Jeffrey Brown, who graduated with a BS (Biochemistry) in May, is accepted into Medical School at the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. Congratulations Jeff!

June 2012: Hanaa and Andy’s paper on the effects of ligand decomposition on the pseudo first-order profile of a ligand substitution reaction is published (New J. Chem. 2012, 36, 1408).

May 2012: The Brasch group is awarded a KSU College of Arts & Sciences Innovative Research Seed Award to develop intracellular vitamin B12-based imaging agents.

May 2012: Together with the McDonough group in Biological Sciences, the Brasch group is awarded a KSU College of Arts & Sciences Collaborative Research Award entitled “Biochemical Analysis of Multiple Sclerosis Cortex”.

April 2012: Awards for Brasch Group members:

  • Jeffrey and David are awarded the prestigious Lubrizol Scholarship from the Dept of Chemistry & Biochemistry.
  • Andrew Hunt is awarded the Undergraduate Award in Inorganic Chemistry from the ACS Division of Inorganic Chemistry.
  • Harishchandra is awarded the Taylor Scholarship for Graduate Research from the Dept of Chemistry & Biochemistry. Harishchandra also receives an Honorable Mention for Graduate Teaching.
  • Jeffrey Brown is awarded the College of Arts & Sciences Distinguished Senior Leadership Award.

March 2012: The Brasch group is awarded a KSU Arts & Sciences Research Resources & Tools Incentive Award.

March 2012: Congratulations to Andrew Hunt who has been accepted into the Redox Biology NSF REU program at the University of Nebraska this summer!

CoverMarch 2012: Former graduate student Dr. Riya Mukherjee accepts an Asst Professor position in the Department of Chemistry & Environmental Science, Birbhum Institute of Engineering and Technology (BIET), Suri, India.

February 2012: Rohan and Noah’s cover page article on the reactions of cob(I)alamin with nitrite and nitrate is published in the European Journal of Inorganic Chemistry (Europ. J. Inorg. Chem. 2012, 913).
