Denver ACS 2015December 2014: Sonya is awarded an ACS Women Chemists Committee Travel Award (sponsored by Eli Lilly & Co.) to attend and present a poster at the 249th National ACS Meeting in Denver, CO.

November 2014: Rohan successfully defends his PhD thesis! Congratulations, Rohan!

November 2014: Undergraduate student Lynn Lisboa joins the group at AUT. Welcome, Lynn!

September 2014: Nicola officially starts in her new position as Professor at Auckland University of Technology.

Ohio Inorganic Weekend 2014September 2014: Joe and Sonya present posters on their research at the Ohio Inorganic Weekend, University of Michigan.

October 2014: Ruth Cink joins the group in NZ. Ruth will be co-supervised by Associate Professor Cather Simpson at the University of Auckland and Professor Allan Blackman at AUT, and has been awarded an AUT Doctoral Scholarship. Welcome, Ruth!

Pittsburgh ACS 2014October 2014: Rohan, Joe, and Sonya attend the 45th ACS Central Regional Meeting in Pittsburgh, PA. Joe is an invited speaker as part of the “Fresh Faces in Bioinorganic Chemistry” initiative, and Rohan and Sonya present posters. Rohan’s poster is also selected for SCI-MIX poster session and Rohan is awarded a travel award from the Graduate Student Senate to attend this conference.

October 2014: Rohan’s paper entitled “Pulse Radiolysis Studies of the Reaction of Nitrogen Dioxide with the Vitamin B12 Complexes Cob(II)alamin and Nitrocobalamin” is published. (J. Inorg. Biochem. 2015, 142, 54)

August 2014: Nicola is invited to give an oral presentation at the FASEB Summer Research conference on Folic Acid, Vitamin B12 and One Carbon Metabolism in Colorado Springs.

July 2014: Harishchandra accepts a one-year Assistant Professor position at in the Department of Chemistry at Kent State University’s Tuscarawas campus.

May 2014: Dr Brasch announces her new appointment as Professor at Auckland University of Technology starting later in 2014.

April 2014: Rohan is awarded the Jay and Carol Taylor Graduate Student Research Award for Excellence in Research from the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Kent State University. Congratulations, Rohan!

April 2014: Joe, Rohan and Matt present posters at the KSU/Stark State College Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society (ACS) poster session, and both received an Honorable Mention for Best Graduate Student Poster Presentation.

April 2014: Rohan and Harish give oral presentations at the KSU GSS Graduate Research Symposium at Kent State University.

April 2014: Dr Brasch is presented an Advisor Excellence Award for her work with the Kent State Chapter of the Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society. The award is given by the Center for Student Involvement to an advisor of a registered student organization who has been recognized by his or her organization as having done an outstanding job.

April 2014: Rohan and Matt receive an Honorable Mention for their poster presentations at the KSU/Stark State College Student Affiliates of the ACS Poster session. Well done, guys!

mary-2.jpgMarch 2014: Mary is one of two students from the KSU NSF-REU summer 2013 program selected to attend the 247th ACS National Meeting in Dallas, Texas. Mary presented a poster on fluorescent vitamin B12 conjugates co-authored by herself, Matt and Anthony.

January 2014: Harishchandra’s article on the reaction of Angeli’s salt with aquacobalamin is published in Inorganic Chemistry.
