December 2016: Nicola, Ruth and Vinay attend the Asian Biological Inorganic Chemistry conference (AsBIC-8), where Nicola gives an invited talk and Ruth and Vinay present posters.
December 2016: Lynn graduates with a BSc and is awarded the NZ Institute of Chemistry Prize for the most outstanding BSc graduate in Chemistry. Congratulations, Lynn!
December 2016: Nicola receives an award for Excellence in Research from the School of Science, AUT.
October 2016: MSc student Marwa Omar joins the group. Welcome, Marwa!
September 2016: Former Brasch group member Edward Suarez Moreira Bahnson is appointed to a tenure track position in the Department of Surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Check out his research group website.
September 2016: Our first paper on photoactivated HNO donor molecules, co-authored by Joe, Ruth and Rohan, is published in Angewandte Chemie!
August 2016: Rohan’s paper on the reactions of cobalamins with hyperchlorous acid is published in the Journal of Inorganic Biochemistry.
July 2016: Nicola is invited to give an oral presentation at the International Conference on Porphyrins and Phthalocyanines (ICCP-9) in Nanjing, China.
June 2016: Nicola is invited to give a keynote lecture at the European Colloquium on Inorganic Reaction Mechanisms, in Krakow, Poland.
June 2016: Joe presents a poster at the Polymer Initiative of Northeast Ohio (PiNO) Conference at Case Western Reserve University.
June 2016: Ruth presents a poster at the University of Auckland School of Chemical Sciences Research Showcase.
May 2016: Sonya graduates with her PhD! In June Sonya will begin a National Research Council (NRC) Postdoctoral fellowship at the Chemistry Research Center, United States Air Force Academy, working with Dr. Gary J. Balaich.
May 2016: Vinay Bharadwaj, who has been awarded an AUT Doctoral scholarship, joins the group. Welcome, Vinay!
April 2016: Nicola visits the Institute of Fundamental Sciences at Massey University, Palmerston North, to meet with staff and present a research seminar.
April 2016: Former undergraduate student in the KSU group, Mary Waddington, is awarded a Kent State University Distinguished Student Leadership Award. Mary has recently accepted a position in the PhD program at UCLA. Congratulations, Mary!
February 2016: Ruth is Chair of the Organising Committee for the inaugural annual AUT School of Applied Sciences Showcase (SASS). At this event postgraduate students showcase their research in the form of poster or oral presentations. Undergraduate students, postgraduate students, and staff from AUT and neighbouring universities attended the event. Click here for pictures of the research showcase.
February 2016: Our collaborator from Kent State University, Professor Paul Sampson, visits us at AUT. An extremely productive and enjoyable week – thanks, Paul!
January 2016: Joe arrives in New Zealand to carry out laser flash photolysis and stopped flow spectroscopy experiments on HNO donors at AUT, thanks to a Supplemental US National Sciences Foundation grant!
