October 2011: Harishchandra, Rohan and Joe present posters on their research at the Cleveland State Interdisciplinary Research Conference.
October 2011: Another trip for Harishchandra, Rohan and Joe! – this time to the Ohio Inorganic Weekend conference at the University of Cincinnati, where Rohan and Joe present posters and Harishchandra gives an oral presentation!
October 2011: Riya’s two articles on the reactions of cob(I)alamin and cob(II)alamin with peroxynitrite are published in Chemistry – A European Journal! (Chem. – Eur. J., 2011, 17, 11723 and 11805.) These articles are featured on the cover page of the issue!
September 2011: The Brasch Group’s paper on the decomposition of thiolatocobalamins in acidic solution, coauthored by Leslie, Riya, Jeff and Harishchandra, is published in the European Journal of Inorganic Chemistry (Eur. J Inorg. Chem., 2011, 4717).
September 2011: Undergraduate student Andrew Hunt joins the group. Welcome Andrew!
September 2011: Congratulations to David, who has been selected to study at the University of Leicester, United Kingdom, in Fall 2011, as part of the Kent State University – University of Leicester exchange program. Click here for more photos of David enjoying himself in the UK.
August 2011: The Brasch Group is awarded an NIH grant from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences to carry out pulse radiolysis studies on the reactions of vitamin B12 with reactive oxygen species. These studies will be done in collaboration with Dr. Diane Cabelli at Brookhaven National laboratory.
August 2011: Graduate student Yang Zhou (Joe) joins the group. Welcome Joe!
June 2011: Ed’s article on vitamin B12 protecting against superoxide induced intracellular oxidative stress is published in Free Radic. Biol. Med. 2011, 11, 876.
June 2011: Dr. Brasch presents a poster at the 8th International Conference on Homocysteine Metabolism in Lisbon, Portugal.
May 2011: Noah graduates with a B.S. in Chemistry with Honors. Noah has been accepted into the PhD program in the Department of Chemistry at CALTECH, starting in Fall 2011. Congratulations Noah!
April 2011: Noah is awarded a Lubrizol Scholarship and the ACS Division of Inorganic Chemistry Undergraduate Award!
April 2011: David is awarded the Clarence L. Cook Memorial Award!
April 2011: Jeff is awarded an American Chemical Society (Akron section) Outstanding Junior Award!
March 2011: Noah successfully defends his senior Honors thesis!
March 2011: Sabbatical leave for Dr. Brasch is approved for Summer and Fall 2011. Dr. Brasch will work in the lab of Dr. Edward Quadros at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in New York.
